Sunday morning coffee with a little musing: blogging hasn’t been the same…
Crazy to think how moving on from my beloved #BlackBerry has impacted my desire to blog. In the past I was pretty consistent because firing off a post using my physical keyboard BlackBerry phone was a breeze. The fact i could do it from anywhere was a plus. Back in October of 2023.. as difficult a decision as it was, i realized it was time to move on. In the end, i felt my hand was being forced. My KEY2 was showing it’s age.. the spacebar stopped working on one, and then the keys gave up altogether on my second KEY2. Sure, i could have opted to get the keyboard replaced but i felt i was just fighting a losing battle. And it’s not just that, android 8 was also showing its age. i mean we’re up to android 14 and app developers are starting to abandon and not support lower OSs. it makes sense, right?
i miss the physical keyboard. i miss BlackBerry. I find it sad. I never thought there would be a day without BlackBerry phones. There have been a few attempts by others but let’s face it, imitated but never duplicated. CrackBerryKevin himself put out Clicks recently…a keyboard for the iphone. I commend him but even if they put one out for android phones i will not purchase.. it makes already long phones even longer. it looks odd but you know right now with all the hoopla it seems like there is an interest. At the very least, they’re paying good money to get people to say how much they love the experience! 😜

After some deliberation and not long at that and quite frankly because of timing, i opted to get the #Google #Pixel 8 pro.. i don’t have regrets but i miss the physical keyboard. My early days with it had me feeling like i needed to throw this phone as far as my arm could physically throw it just out of the sheer frustrations of writing on a screen. my god. it was hell. The saving grace was the reminder of how much the phone cost me. Admittedly, i am impressed with voice to text. it’s pretty accurate. The punctuation maybe not so much but that may just be a “me” thing. However, it’s not enough for me to want to try to voice dictate a post. I can only imagine how much post dictation manual corrections would be needed.
Anyway, with the pivot BlackBerry has made i can’t ever see them coming back to phones.. but never say never.. i mean look at TV/Movies, everything is about “remakes”.. so you never know!!

Having seen several hands on videos on the Q10 has me excited for it’s release.. however, the more of the videos i see the more i salivate at the thought of getting my hands on one. There is no question that blackberry is truly the only one that has gotten the keyboard experience down pat.. but wow, this Q10 keyboard looks awesome!! i cannot wait!!! I currently have a 9900 and i take pride that i kick ass when it comes to typing on it.. clearly i will kick more ass with the Q10!! 🙂
PS: as much as this white one looks sleek..i will get the black Q10

I am looking so forward to getting my hands on this!!! I am really impressed with the all touch but i just don’t see myself being able to live without the keyboard.. I actually had to test something today on an iphone5 and i almost threw it across the room.. couldn’t believe how many freaking typos i was making!
