Last Man Standing series finale

Posted on Updated on

It’s always super sad when a series ends. Political views aside I have always been a fan of Tim Allen. I loved Home Improvement. I will say that although early on I did not miss any episodes of last man standing at one point I lost touch with it… but eventually I returned to watching it.
Most series, unless abruptly terminated, end with closure. I am not exactly sure what to make of Last Man Standing’s series finale. Essentially a truck Tim worked on for 10 years gets stolen. So in some way the truck represented the show… ~10 years of hard work by Tim…during their mourning the truck scene u can clearly see that they’re really talking about the show.
Anyway I just found this series ending, let’s just say, different.
During his last vlog Tim makes reference to ‘stealing’…I hope that considering his political views that he didn’t go there. It would not be surprising though since over the years he’s gone there plenty of times during the shows run.
As an avid BlackBerry enthusiast myself the one thing I appreciated enormously was Tim Allen’s appreciation for the BlackBerry brand and the fact he showcased plenty BlackBerry phones constantly over the years. His love for the brand seemed to have rubbed off on others in the cast as Hector and Jonathan too sported the KEY series during the last season. Good on you Tim. Good on you. 👍

… and btw what the hell ever happened to Boyd? Here’s what…

Weird though that he couldn’t be in the finale.

Reading this article annoys me. I am annoyed because i have no clue if Kim has any clue that the @BlackBerry #Classic is the answer to her prayers.. seriously. Did she not get the memo??

Open sentence to @KimKardashian : grab a @BlackBerry #Classic, spend some quality time with it. You will not regret it. Thank you.

Trading Blackboards for BlackBerries: Little Kids and the BlackBerry PlayBook | Aiming Low.

I love these kinds of stories. As an avid blackberry user (bold and playbook) and believer in their product.. it’s good to read “feel good” stories.. at a time when there is nothing but haters… I cannot wait for the BB10s to make their way to the market!

playbook review part II

Posted on Updated on

alrighty, here is the continuation of my modest review of the playbook…. written on my playbook :).
there is no question that the upgrade to 2.0 was the best thing for the playbook. I really don’t care about all the ‘too little too late’ posts out there. it isn’t too little too late. this is what I believe to be the beginning of something bigger. the fact that they are getting their bb10 phones headed in this direction is an important step. there are way too many short sighted ‘know it alls’ out there…a lot of these haters, will most likely take credit if/when rim turns things around. I am almost sure of this.
the native apps were a fantastic addition…there have been way too many reviews already done on these apps so it is really pointless for me to just repeat everything. all I will say is that the calendar is awesome to work with… and the integrated email… just awesome sauce! awesome.
the app world redesign – excellent.
the video and camera… nothing new to 2.0 but I thought worth mentioning as very good. the HD quality is amazing… there are times when indoor pictures don’t turn out the greatest but it is just a small annoyance if anything. as mentioned in my previous post, video watching is great… especially in HD. I find it very convenient when I don’t want to hook up the playbook to my TV via hdmi, to use the case and I prop the playbook on my chest while I watch a movie. ahhh yes I can be lazy :). the only disappointment when it comes to video… the lack of a video store. for the time being we canadians need to be second fiddle to the US… and must wait for RIM to open up the store to us.

the android player – I have downloaded a few android ported apps and for the most part the performance has been good. there are times when the player acts up and I have one of two options to clear things up… close the player and wait a while for the OS to take care of business or worse case scenario I need to reboot the playbook. hopefully the next upgrade will address this issue. so as u can see my review is not all good ;)!

a read a couple of reviews that the browser shuts down unexpectedly. it has happened to me a couple of times but not significantly to complain about it… there are some reviewers out there that try to make a mountain out of a molehill.

I was able to write up this post in no time flat. honestly I whipped it up quite fast and why? very easy answer. the form factor! yes, I have gone full circle and decided to end off my review by going back to what I started with. there is no way u could do this easily with an ipad or galaxy or any other tablet larger then the playbook. enough said.

My playbook impressions/review (part I)

Posted on Updated on

I decided that it was time for me to review the blackberry playbook. Why? Well, why not? Everyone under the sun review everything under the sun… What’s one more review, eh ;)? Anyway I’ve had the playbook for some time now and recently upgraded it to 2.0… I am a blackberry fanboy but I will do my best to ‘call it like it is’. In short, I love it! Well, that’s my review. Hope u liked it! lol…
I kid, I kid. The first thing I love about it, is in fact, its form factor. This nonsense about a 7inch not being big enough, is just that; nonsense. How can u watch a movie on it, people ask. Well, u can and comfortably. It is light, it fits anywhere. I can hold it in one hand for long periods of time without feeling any type of fatigue or strain. I coach a soccer team and use it not just for the white board but to show videos and to make/review game notes, lineups and to prepare my practice sessions, etc. The 7inch format is convenient and the fact that other 7inch tablets are making their way to the market is proof that there is a market for it.
The playbook is also pretty thin. I didn’t really realize how much until recently. I know this sounds weird but let me explain. When I first got the PB, I quickly encased it in a leather case to protect it. I never really spent time with it outside the case… Anyway every time I watched a video on the PlayBook, I would always wonder why it looked so thin ;)… So yesterday I finally decided to remove it from the case and wowza, it’s pretty awesome thin! Lol. I love it. I did not give it enough of a chance outside the case. Just take a look at the photos to see the difference between the playbook and the case! I won’t get rid of the case as it’s convenient to use when watching a movie but for the most part I will handle the playbook au naturel! Lol.

Stayed tuned for my follow up post on the playbook… I wrote this one on my bold 9900… The second half will be written from … Wait for it… My playbook! 🙂

My buddy came thru and got me a blackberry bold 9900 for dirt cheap and I am getting myself acquainted with it. I am going thru the motions and of course we must test the camera … And here u have it … The first of many photos I will take with the bold… Obviously Dahlia isn’t as thrilled as I am or maybe she doesn’t like what she is eating! 🙂 lol.
