it totally “killed” me when i heard the speaker use the word “courage”. lol.. truly laughable! The fact is Apple has always pushed their “way or the highway” mentality down everyone’s throat… and folks just keep on swallowing!!
…but… lately it appears to some degree that some folks are starting to choke on the apple. 😉

Speaking of Rants…

A few years back I was actually the recipient of a FB rant. You see, I had the audacity of calling out a player for being unsportsmanlike so his father took to FB and went on this rant. Obviously he didn’t name names but it was directed at me. Having been this kids coach for a couple years I didn’t see, at the time, an issue with calling out his actions or lack thereof. We had this younger player come out and help the team. In the 3 games he played for us he scored three goals. Our team suffered in that department and he helped. The right thing to do when a teammate scores is to go over and congratulate him. Everyone did but this player. Repeatedly. Parents took notice. I called him out. It’s a team sport, right? And maybe there was envy on his part because he wasn’t scoring for the team and here comes this younger player and he scores 3x in 3 games; who knows.
In retrospect maybe my approach was wrong but there is a principle here. When is a person old enough to understand right from wrong? To be accountable ? Is 14 not old enough?
Anyway – I took the rant in stride and did not get caught up in it. I could have easily responded. Chose not to. This guy craves attention. The fact is that this man, this parent, is the biggest hypocrite. He’s also what I refer to as a FBFF (faux best friend forever). This man criticized and shat on players time in and time out. Not only did he have terrible things to say directly to me about other kids but constantly over the years on the sideline was overheard criticizing players. You see, he’s from the school of thought that if the kid doesn’t know about or hear the criticism it’s Ok. Uh, sure. Whatever you say there buddy. This is a person who should be the last to be preaching to others. He’s someone that is in dire need of a good mirror.
Me thinks this post is a rant!! Lol. That. Is. All.
Rants Are All the Rage These Days

I follow this local fitness/model ‘celebrity’ on social media. To be honest I don’t know if she really is a celebrity. Hence the word in quotes. I had seen her a few times at the gym I used to go to and then by chance saw a video for another gym I used to go to she was featured in. She posts fairly frequently videos on her youtube and FB. The other day she posted a rant about the two young ladies from Quebec that recently got arrested in Australia for drug possession. She ranted about the fact that people shouldn’t be quick to judge these two girls. That people who are quick to judge need to find something else to do with their lives. Essentially people can’t pass judgment because we don’t know the whole story and the circumstances. Of course she had to add the bit ‘how would you feel if this was your family member?’
Anyway, the world will judge. That’s life. People will have opinions. Everyone is entitled to that. Here’s the thing. I wish I could make sense of her rant and agree with it. These two young women (in their 20s) got caught with a huge amount of cocaine. Huge. This was not a case where it was a small amount that someone could have feasibility stashed in their luggage without their knowledge. One of these girl’s Instagram feed had her travelling all over the world. I mean, sure, it’s possible that even at this young age she could afford to… but based on what has transpired it looks clear now how she was able to. These two women were not set up. They are part of the problem. They traffic drugs. They deserve what they get. It’s not passing judgment. It’s how it should be. Sorry, not sorry. These are two young lives that will waste away in prison because they chose the path they did. I will be completely surprised if it does turn out that they was framed but I doubt it.
Most of the comments to the video rant were expressing disagreement with her… some agreed.. mostly men… I wonder why… Anyway of course with those that disagreed, she agreed to disagree. She has that right.
Our Vacation In Italy: Over 10 Years in the Making…

Our trip to Italy this summer hit home very hard for me. It made me realize that for over ten years I had my priorities all screwed up. I have this character flaw… I am loyal AF and when I am committed to something I stick to it like velcro. For over 10 years I have volunteered at a youth soccer club as coach and also IT person for their office. The coaching gig started innocently enough. Our son, at a very young age, was keen with a soccer ball. We knew we wanted him in soccer but being he was terribly shy I volunteered to help coach so I would be there for him. My son started soccer at the age of four. That was thirteen years ago. As the years went by and we went from recreational soccer to competitive and I from casual assistant to coach, things changed. That sense of obligation was too strong and in the end it clouded my judgment. Family vacation time became non existent. We would take a few days here and there and always around the soccer schedule. During this time the furthest we went was probably New Hampshire. The last few years have been difficult for me at this club for various reasons I won’t get into in this post but mostly because the technical director in charge has no clue what a volunteer means to youth clubs like this one. Without volunteers, youth clubs won’t exist!! Plain and simple. He fails to ‘get that’. Add the fact the he and the President of the club are close friends and you have a recipe for disaster.

This club has gone downhill since the appointment of this technical director. The hypocrisy that exists is beyond words and it opened my eyes. Unfortunately it took a personal incident to get me to smarten up but I guess better late than never. It was like a huge slap to the back of the head. The kind like DiNozzo got on NCIS! Unfortunately I can’t turn back time and I wish I could just for the sake of my son. My daughter, who is a few years younger, has had it actually easier in general but as well it helps that I will never make this mistake again.
